Fermentation production of lactic acid. II. Isolation of thermophilic strain.Peer-reviewed article

V. HERIBAN, N. ŠTURDÍKOVÁ, E. ŠTURDÍK

Using classical microbial techniques thirty monocultures were isolaled from samples taken from the sugar production. This screening was made with the aim to obtain the thermophilic microorganisms growing on saccharose and being able to convert sugar to lactic acid. All the strains were tested from the standpoint of basic microbiological and biochemical properties. The strains with the best properties were identified as Bacillus coagulans. In addition, the preservation techniques for these strains were developed.
