The use of actidion for differential diagnosis of microbiologic control of baker9s and brewer9s yeast.Peer-reviewed article

J. ARPAI, V. STUCHLÍK

For differential diagnosis the antibiotic Actidion (cycloheximide) was used by the authors. This antibiotic is used in Versuchsanstalt für Gärungsgewerbe inVienna. It has inhibitive influence upon the growth of yeast. The authors elaborated a method of control in two ways of application, according to which the quantitative determination of bacterial infection by direct reckoning, as well as the qualitative classification basing on the results of elective cultivation, are possible. For both methods the Thom9s camera is used. The negative degree of bacterial contamination is expressed as infection index. The above mentioned methods are particularly described.
