The Zeiss-Pulfrich nephelometer has been applied for measuring the intensity of formazine turbidity of beer. The EBC method has been applied and obtained values are compared in diagrams with absolute turbidity. The article deals with the calibration technique based upon the application of formazine solutions giving artificial turbidity, as well as with the evaluating methods used for classifying the clarity of beer. Results of several tests quoted in the article indicate the differences between various filtering methods. The Zeiss-Pulfrich nephelometer can be used for various other tests of similar character and its application in laboratories fo breweries can contribute to better quality control.
