The article deals with a transistorized, contactless device for metering froth killers, which has recently been developed and tested with outstanding success. The principal element of the device is a three-step transistorized amplifier in theDarlingtonarrangement. The end transistor can switch either a 24 V solenoid valve [12 W] or any other metering mechanism introducing froth killing agent into the fermenting substance. The froth level is indicated by two electrodes. The amplifier is enclosed in a resin shell protecting it positively against corrosion. By incorporating the described device some 40 % of froth killing fat could be saved.
