Malting day was organized on November 1, 1971 by the subsidiary of the Czech Scientific and Technical Society together with the management of the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting in Brno on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the Brno workplace. In the official part of the program, the director of the Brno workplace, Ing. M. Trkan, presented a lecture “History and work of the Brno Institute“, the principal part of which we are publishing. It was connected by the speech of the RIBM’s director, Dr. O. Bendová, CSc, who from the title of her office and at the same time on behalf of the branch management of Breweries and Malthouses appreciated results achieved at the working place in research and supervising and contribution of the workplace to the Czechoslovak malting industry.
At part devoted to lectures, the Institute’s employees presented five papers reporting on the results achieved in the main areas of the Institute’s activity, namely: "Contribution of the Brno workplace of the RIBM for evaluating the quality of malting barley varieties" (Dr. M. Svědirohová), "Share of the Brno workplace of the RIBM VÚPS at the introduction of new technology in the malting industry" (Ing. M. Nentwichová), "Validation tests of Czechoslovak technological equipment in relation to the development and construction of malthouses" (Ing. J. Vlcek), "Survey of the analytical procedures tested and elaborated int the Brno workplace of the RIBM" (PhMr. H. Vrtělová) and "Operation of the supervising department in relation to the export of Czechoslovak malts" (Dr. A. Doležalová).
