Rational utilization of washing media for a bottle washing in brewery.Peer-reviewed article

A. KRATOCHVÍLE

A consumption of washing media is dependent of many factors. In addition to a quantity of impurities coming into a washing mashine, also a good function of mashine and a suitable operating mode of washing influence the proper effect. A high concentration of the washing lye and a frequent exchange of baths without checking have no positive effect on washing. Only higher losses of washing media result from this mode of work. The operation of washing mashines with higher capacity should have been checked by an estimation of C-concentration and by a periodical estimation of bath pollution using the COD test. The operating mode of a washing lye exchange could be made according to operational experiences with respect to P-value. The minimum P-value can be 60 000-90 000 bottles per m3. Using a suitable combined washing media the P-value could he yet increased. The effective recovery of washing lyes can be made by an oxidative clearing with flocculation and following filtration. The necessity of neutralization of washing lyes before their discharge increases efficiency of their recovery.
