The production mutant of Corynebacterium glutamicum 10-20/60 which need homoserine for growth and which is resistant to S-amino-ethylcysteine, accumulates L-lysine in a fementation medium. The accumulation of L-lysine was observed in fermentations with standard carbon sources (saccharose, molasses) as well as with non-standard carbon sources (acetic acid, hydrolysates of cereal starches, mixtures of molasses-acetate and enzyme hydrolysates of paper). This mutant is similar to the production strain of Brevibacterium flavum with the same genetic determination from the standpoint of the assimulation of various carbon sources, the corresponding L-lysine production and the type of fermentation.
