Czechoslovak Collection of Microorganisms serves as bank for cultures which are used in basic and applied research, biotechnology, industry, agriculture, human and veterinary medicine and education. It maintains more over than 5000 strains of bacteria and microscopic fungi representing 155 genera and 433 species of fungi. The collection also accepts for depositing cultures which are subjects of patent procedures. It gives information on isolation, cultivation, maintenance and classification of different groups of bacteria and fungi. It provides some other services, e. g. identification and conservation of cultures for various institutes.
