Regulation of the formation of exocellular proteases in Bacillus subtilis and B. megaterium was compared. Whereas in the first case depends on sporulation only, in the second one proceeds during growth as well as during sporulation. Mechanism of the control of proteinase synthesis in both physiological stages is different. The enzyme synthesis during sporulation depends on the developmental process. The formation of the protease is suppressed by temperature in both cases.
