The spore viability of the production strain of Aspergillus oryzae CCM 8005 and the effect of the spore age on the activity of amylolytic enzymes produced by mycelium grown from these spores were studied. The age of spores tested was: 14, 10, 5, 4, 2, 1 and 0,5 months. Except of the 14 month's age, all other spores kept all their physiological properties and were able to grow on soild clture media and produced amylases of the whole activity of 1000 - 1200 nkat.ml-1 of the cultivation medium. With the spores of 14 month's age a 48 h resuscitative phase was needed in comparison to other spores tested.
