The water was denitrified with the soil bacterium Paracoccus denitrificans. The cells were chemically immobilized with the water soluble reactive polymer. The denitrifying efficiency of ntive and immobilized cells cultivated under aerobic and anaerobic conditions were compared. Nitrates in the water were reduced by the mean rate of 0,97 mg NO3- per1 g dry weight of mmobilized cells per hour during one month.
