Tunnel malting plant.Peer-reviewed article

L. ŠOLEK

Kvasny Prum. 1962; 8(7): 145-151 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1962022

In the frame of research works aimed at developing efficient methods of continuous malting the author and his co-workers have elaborated plans of a tunnel type malting plant of 7500 t/year capacity. Steeping and germinating take place on 36 belts arranged in 6 stages and installed in a 55 x10 mroom. A continuous malt kiln is located in a separate building. To verify new ideas incorporated into the project a model of the plant has been installed at the Braník brewery. The authors compare the tunnel installation with pneumatic one, formulate some requirements to the properties of air and outline the basic principles of continuous tunnel malting, adjusting...

K. OBRHEL, J. SLOŽIL, V. POTĚŠIL

Kvasny Prum. 1962; 8(7): 154-159 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1962024

Production scale experiments with a pilot installation employing the "Destila" diatomite filters confirm their suitability for beer clarifying operations The efficiency and through flow of the filters are very satisfactory. The best results, i. e. optimum biological stability and sparkling clarity were obtained with a mixture containing 40 % of the Hyflo S. c. diatomite and 60 % of local diatomite of F2 grade. Beer clarified in diatomite filtering installation surpasses beer treated in conventional ways.(In Czech, English summary only)
