T. LEJSEK, J. MARE©

Kvasny Prum. 1970; 16(10): 209-212 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1970018

The article deals with the efficiency of separators developed for removing spent grain from extracts. The losses of extract calculated by the authors theoretically for a new separation station are compared with the results of accurate measurements. Theoretical losses for 2.8 to 1.2 %. Three/stage separation reduces them to 0.54-0.14 %. Actual losses after two/stage separation in disc-type, sedimentation separators were in the 1.7-2.1 range.(In Czech, English summary only)

Continuous determination of ethanol in mash in yeast plants.Peer-reviewed article

K. KADLEC, J. SLÁDEČEK, S. SNOPEK

Kvasny Prum. 1970; 16(10): 219-222 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1970020

A new instrument has been developed for planta making bakery yeast for indirect determination of ethanol content in mash. The tests carried out with  the prototype of the instrument confirm that it is both accurate and reliable. Its function is based on the principle of catalytic combustion and its detector with diffusion chambers is locate in the hood above the mash tun. Owing to its properties the new analyzer can replace imported instruments.(In Czech, English summary only)
