The collection of brewing yeast of the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting, founded in 1946 serves, on the one hand, to genofond preservation of brewing production strains, on the other hand safeguards pure culture strains for brewing industry as well as for genetic manipulation purposes. The Publication, which is based on the lecture presented at the 25th Annual Conference on Yeast describes a method of collection maintaining. A short characteristics is being introduced of the most important yeast production strains properties. The yeast collection of the Research institute of Brewing and Malting enjoys an international registration and since 1964 has gained a membership in the Federation of Czech and Slovak microorganism collection.
