Elective medium for determining contamination in yeasts plants.Peer-reviewed article

B. BUREŠOVÁ, P. ŘACH

New elective medium is described which has been prepared for detecting contamination of yeasts by geni Candida, Torulopsis, Hansenula, Pichia, Rhodotorula. Propagation of genus Saccharomyces in the new medium is effectively inhibited. No inhibitive additives are therefore necessary. Propagation of germs is restricted and suppressed. The medium based upon the succinic acid anhydride, betein and anorganic salts is suitable for testing pure culture, determining admixed microbes and checking samples of fermentation liquids.
