Application of punched cards for recording the circulation of barrels and deliveries of beer.Peer-reviewed article

Correct recording of the circulation of barrels is an important problem, since large breweries have often in permanent circulation tens of thousand barrels representing a substantial part of their capital. To mechanize the recording system a new method based upon the use of perforated cards has been introduced by South-Boh. Breweries Nat.Corp. in České Budějovice. The scheme comprises: a) Systematic daily recording of circulating barrels indicating the outgoing and incoming quantities, specified according to types, as well as monthly balances at individual customers. b) Detailed statistics of beer deliveries specified to meet various criteria. Mechanised recording has its reflexion in higher productivity, reduced costs and more reliable results. The scheme facilitates also management and planning.
