The article deals with new microbiological testing methods, which have been developed for application in food industry. The technology of preparing the so called MICROBITESTS and the range of their applications is described. The term MICROBITEST is used for special indicating papers soaked with nutritive substances, some of which may have selective character. The microorganisms present in the liquid to be tested are absorbed into the surface layers of the paper and develop there after the incubation period into colonies. If a suitable indicator is present in the paper, the reaction will take place with the products of biologic activity of microbes and a coloured patch will appear. The described method is reliable, simple and inexpensive.
