The article deals briefly with modern fermentation and post-fermentation methods and new types of fermentation plants which have been recently developed. The following types are described and evaluated: large-capacity tanks standing free on open places, tanks for pressure fermentation, combined large-capacity tanks, vertical tanks with tapered bottoms and plants for two-stage fermentation. Taking into account conditions prevailing inCzechoslovakia, the authors recommend vertical and free standing tanks. Such tanks reduce costs and ensure good quality of beer. To shorten time required for post-fermentation two-stage system should be given preference.
