The article deals with the results of research works, which have been carried out to assess principal physical and chemical properties of polymers of polyesters type represented by a preparation, called Sorsilen. Sorsilen is produced by reprecipitating polyethylene terephtalate from molten caprolactam. Comprehensive experiments covering treatment of beer with Sorsilen show that the polymer can sorb polymerized polyphenols more intensively than simple ones. Experiments also disclosed the properties of a number of polymer samples produced by using different processing methods. By changing appropriately processing technology it is easy to give the preparation different properties as far as morphology and size of specific surface are concerned, which in its turn bears upon the sorbing capacity of preparation. The sorbing capacity depends on many factors, as the size of specific surface, precipitation rate, distribution and dimension of pores, wettability of surface, diffusion phenomena, capillarity, methods applied in clarification operation and - naturally - also the quality of beer.
