Plans which have been recently elaborated for zoning the production of malting and feed barley take into account soil and climatic conditions, concentration of proteins in corns and average yields of high quality products. In districts with favourable conditions up to 50 % of barley harvest can be used for malting the proportion in other barley growing districts being roughly 30 %. In feed barley growing destricts special attention must be paid to factors contributing to an efficient biosynthesis of proteins (agrotechnical measures, selection of genotypes) and improving thus nutritive value of feed. Calculations show that through specialization and zoning even the steadily increasing demand for melting barley can be fully satisfied.
