Control of aeration during oxytetracycline production.Peer-reviewed article

P. ETTLER

During the cultivation of Streptomyce rimosus and oxytetracycline biosynthesis D. O. C. and OUR were determined. According to the rheological behaviour and values of D. O. C. a stepwise aeration program was applied in industrial scale. Significant savings of antifoams together with higher harvest of cultivation broth from fermenters were achieved. The consumption of sterile air for fermentation was reduced.
