The aim of this study was to find a simple and as far as possible also an universal method for sample preparations in the metal determination by atomic absorption spectrometry. A dry mineralization in the muffle furnace at 550 °Cand a mineralization in the HNO3-KClO4-H2SO4 (30:7:2) mixture at350 °C for the determination of Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, Sr and Zn were used. The methods were compared from the standpoint of the results and their reproducibility. The following results were obtained: Non of the methods is suitable for the determination of Li. The dry mineralization has to be used for the determination of K. The wet mineralization is necessary for the determination of Na, Fe, and Mg. The other elements can be determined with both the methods for the mineralization without any changes of the conditions.
