There is comparison of the methods of determining free SO2 from measured absorbance after decolorization of anthocyanins, potentiometric determination of free and whole SO2 and determination of whole SO2 by the distillation method. It has been shown that the distillation Metod may be a correct and precise one. In terms of the results of this method there was calculated the correlation with the values of potentiometric determination for Svätovavrinecké wine r = 0,995 and for Frankovka r = 0,981. The correlation coefficient r = 0,992 and an equation of straight line in form x̅B = 7,05 + 1,05 x̅A, was found out for 43 samples of different  brands of red wine, e. g. the results are affected by continuous and proportional errors. The results of determining free SO2 by potentiometric titration and by spectrophotometric method (decolorizartion and anthocyanins) have no relation.
