The friability can be used for a quick and reliable estimation of the malt quality with respect to its further treatment or its properties in a brewery. The value of friability can be influenced by a variety selection, growing districts, time of harvesting a treatment procedure resp. the malt quality, i.e., its friability and homogenity can be influenced by the steeping treatment, the quantity of moisture and the germination temperature. For the complex determination of a malt quality some analytical values are necessary. The siewing analysis permits to obtain the more objective value of homogenity.
