The friability can be used for a quick and reliable estimation of the malt quality with respect to its further treatment or its properties in a brewery. The value of friability can be influenced by a variety selection, growing districts, time of harvesting a treatment procedure resp. the malt quality, i.e., its friability and homogenity can be influenced by the steeping treatment, the quantity of moisture and the germination temperature. For the complex determination of a malt quality some analytical values are necessary. The siewing analysis permits to obtain the more objective value of homogenity.(In Czech, English summary only)
Utilization of waste heat from kiln by heat exchangers.Peer-reviewed article
Z. HO©EK, J. PROKE©
Kvasny Prum. 1989; 35(2): 38-41 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1989005
Two different systems for the utilization of waste heat from kiln by heat exchangers are described. The first system is air - air, the second one air - water. Using the waste heat 20 % of fuel can be saved according to the results obtained.(In Czech, English summary only)

New type of laboratory fermenter.Peer-reviewed article
J. ©RÁMEK, V. SCHÖN
Kvasny Prum. 1989; 35(2): 45-52 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1989007
A new type of the driving device for rotary stirrer in laboratory fermenters has been constructed. This device can be used even during steam sterilization in an autoclave as well as under the other extreme conditions. The new device makes possible to extend the use of low-cost fermenters by simple construction.(In Czech, English summary only)
