Wastes from the plant Tesla Rožnov have been denitrified by chemically immobilized cells of a mixed population of activated sludge. During the continuous processing of the pre-treated Si-concentrate in the column with the fixed layer of the immobilized cells nitrates were reduced in about of 860.6 mg/l NO-3-N. The average specific denitrification rate was 0.77 mg of reduced nitrate nitrogen on1 g of cell dry weight per hour.
