The content of some deleterious substances in brewing liquors from twelve breweries fromEast Bohemiawas determined. The study was focused on a presence of the following substances: metals, lower volatile halogenated hydrocarbons and two polychlorinated biphenyls. From the standpoint of ČSN 75 7111 the content of au deleterious substances tested was under the limit values (with one exception of higher PCB level in one sample). However, some results obtained proved the effect of grandwater contamination due to industrial activities (levels of halogenated hydrocarbons and some metals). From this follows there it is necessary to check regularly the level of deleterious substances in water.
