Problems in connection with the occurence of some significant metal elements in hops and hop products are discussed. The occurence of heavy metals from the viewpoint of their distribution into various parts of the plant is considered, taking in account a cultivation area. Comparison is made with respect to metals' contents in soil and country of origin. Fundamental knowledge relating to metals' concentration changes during production of hop extracts and pellets are summarized. A brief survey of the problems involved as seen from the aspects of their significance for the brewing industry.
