Assessment of artificial sweeteners in beer.Peer-reviewed article

In industrially developed countries new trends are coming up to the foreground aimed at beverage energy content decrease, making thus them suitable even for diabetics. On the Czech market can be most frequently met beverages sweetened by Saccharine, Aspartame or Acesulfame K. The separation and assessment of the three mentioned sweeteners from beer and its mixtures with syrups is described. For the purpose of sweetener isolation, a series-connected Bond Elut SAX and Separon SGX sorbents with separated extraction o the individual sweeteners have been used. Eluates underwent HPLC analysis with UV detection using a graduent elution. The method was applied to domestic dark beers and belgic beer mixtures with syrups.
