Some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contained in beer underwent analysis by using liquid chromatography with fluorescent detection. The monitored hydrocarbons were isolated from beer by means of membrane extraction discs 3M Empore C18, dissolved in methanol with following separation on analytical column Nuc1eo-sil 5-PAH (Macherey-Nagel) using gradient elution with mobile acetonitril-water phase. From the preliminary results followed that the total content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in beer is likely to be found on levels below 1 mg/l, thus being lower than a proposed hygienic limit for comestibles.
