Laboratory methods of ASBC, EBC and MEBAK recommended for the determination of beer soluble iron (calcium and aluminium in case EBC as well) from the filter aids are compared in the presented article. These official methods diverge under different conditions of analysis. Influence of several parameters (temperature, pH, extraction time, beer sort, etc) on the amount of beer soluble metal ions was examined. Research data demonstrated that the watched parameters influenced the determination of beer soluble ions, therefore these methods give different results. The amount of beer soluble metal ions in industrial scale is lower compared to ones detected in laboratory. Average content of beer soluble metal ions including toxic ones from available kieselguhr and perlites was monitored. Higher values of iron extraction from kieselguhr were observed only during the first hour of industrial filtration.Laboratory methods of ASBC, EBC and MEBAK recommended for the determination of beer soluble iron (calcium and aluminium in case EBC as well) from the filter aids are compared in the presented article.
