The study evaluates the quality of malting barley from the 2011 harvest in the Czech Republic . It detected above average starch content and portion of sieving fractions over 2.5 mm and below average content of nitrogenous substances when compared to the longterm values. In some lots the sprouting (both visible and hidden) of caryopses occurred due to the higher moisture content, this negatively affected the germination capacity of barley lots. With appropriately chosen malting technology, barley lots with good germinative capacity produced good quality malt with the above average values of extract. The study evaluates the quality of malting barley from the 2011 harvest in the Czech Republic .
