Light transmitting properties of beer and of 9 sorts of beer bottles of different colours have been studied by means of spectral analysis. The results of accurate measurements and organoleptic tests indicate that the protecting properties of bottles should be determined by measuring the light transmission in the 300 - 500 nm range this being the critical band of radiation harmful to beer.(In Czech, English summary only)
Measuring, signalling and regulating devices used for an experimental installation for producing biologically active yeast, operating on a semi-industrial scale at Trenčín.Peer-reviewed article

Kvasny Prum. 1963; 9(10): 237-241 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1963038
The article deals with various regulating, measuring and signaling devices employed in an automated installation for producing yeast of high biological activity, which has been operating for a year at Trenčín yeast plant. The installation consists of the following units: programme controlled automatic dosing apparatus, transistorized froth skimming regulator, devices signaling the level and volume of solution and devices signaling failures. Experience gained with the plant are described in detail.(In Slovak, English summary only)
Systematic classification of technical strains of wine yeasts.Peer-reviewed article
E. MINÁRIK
Kvasny Prum. 1963; 9(10): 242-245 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1963039
The majority of technical strains of wine yeasts cultivated at the Research Institute of Viticulture and Wine Industry are pure cultures and are used as such by industry. They belong chiefly to the following stems: S. vini, S. oviformis. Several strains were identified as S. carlbergensis, S. heterogenicus, S. globosus, and S. chevalieri. The article deals with the principal morphological and physiological properties of the stems and outlines the range, in which each of the described species can be employed.(In Slovak, English summary only)
