Comprehensive polyfactorial experiments were carried out in 1973 - 1975 to study the effects of various kinds and amounts of nitrogen fertilizers, used together with constant amounts of phosphoric and potash manures, upon the properties of the following varieties of spring barley: Favorit, Ametyst and Elgína. Nitrogen fertilizers were represented by ammonia salpetre with limestone and urea and the rates were N50, N75 and N100. The author evaluates the results of experiments analyzing effects of nitrogen rates under given agronomic and ecologic conditions upon the contents of albumins, starch and extract. Mechanical...
Principal lines to be followed in the development of fermentation products manufacturing methods in the plants of the LIKO group.Peer-reviewed article
J. FORSTHOFFER
Kvasny Prum. 1976; 22(11): 247-249 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1976036
The author specifies measures which will be taken in the periods of the 6-th and 7-th 5-years plans to further develop the production of fermentation products in the factories of the LIKO group. There are four principal lines to be followed: microorganisms used at present will be gradually replaced by new kinds better meeting higher requirements put now to fermentation products. Beside traditional raw materials containing sugar new raw materials will be utilized as available and cheap sources of carbon, as e.g. fissile lignocelluloses products, crude oil and its products, especially n-alkanes, ethanol, methanol and methane. Much attention will...
Utilization of less conventional raw materials for making biologic feeding substances.Peer-reviewed article
S. LABENDZIŃSKI
Kvasny Prum. 1976; 22(11): 250-253 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1976037
To alleviate the shortage of feed albumins in Poland the author recommends to utilize beside traditional raw materials also less know ones. To traditional raw materials belong molasses stillage and sulphite waste liquor, to unconventional ones gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons, synthetic alcohols in final or crude form, starch containing waste and waste of lignocelluloses production.(In Czech, English summary only)
Factors determining glycerol concentration in wine.Peer-reviewed article

Kvasny Prum. 1976; 22(11): 254-256 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1976038
Glycerol is an important component of grape wine because of its percentage and especially because of its effects upon the quality of wine. Wine containing an adequate amount of glycerol is velvety, full-bodied and flavorous. Factors determining its formation have not been so far thoroughly studied and the authors have carried out in 1974-1975 research works into the effects of temperature and activity of some kinds of Saccharomyces yeast upon the glycerol concentration. It has been found that higher fermentation temperature has positive effects, i.e. it increases the amount of glycerol. Some kinds of Saccharomyces yeast,...

L. CHLÁDEK
Kvasny Prum. 1976; 22(11): 258-262 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1976039
The author outlines recent progress in the design and construction of sweet wort straining and malt sparging installations, lauter, tanks, filters, centrifugal separators and extractors.(In Czech, English summary only)
