Effects of several factors, viz.: kind of forecrop, sowing rate, fertilizing rate and weather conditions, upon the technologic properties of spring barley were studied in a series thoroughly prepared polyfactorial field trials. The study covers two forecrops, viz. winter wheat and malze grown as a silage crop, sowing rates giving 3,5; 4,0 and 4,5 milion germinating corns per 1 hectar and varios amounts of fertilizers. Regardles of their total amount the shares of main components were always constantand proportion was N : P : K = 1,0 : 0,63 : 2,07 ( N = N0 and N40). A new variety of spring barley, viz Koral HE-748, was chosen for...

S. BAXA

Kvasny Prum. 1978; 24(9): 197-202 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1978033

In a series of tables the author compares various methods used to heat kieves and coppers in brewhouses. The study covers 35 installations with direct and indirect heating systems. Data of heat consumption in various phases of heating and boiling processes permit to work out realiable thermal balances.(In Czech, English summary only)

Kvasny Prum. 1978; 24(9): 202-207 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1978034

The growth of the Candida utilis yeast cultivated in ethanol substrate can be stimulated by ash of molasses distillation residue. By applying semiquantitative emission spectrophotometry and AAS the following elemens K, Na, Ca, Mg, AL, Fe, B, Pb, Zn, Mn, Mo, Cu and Co in the ash were determinated. In series of experiments carried out in minimal nutritive medium with starved yeast culture were selected elements with stimulating effect. Of trace elements the most effective are Fe and Zn and from the group of biogenic elements Na and especially Ca are very important; Mg is effecient mainly if Cu and Mn are present. It can be assumed, that beneficial effect...

Kvasny Prum. 1978; 24(9): 208-211 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1978035

A metod for the astimation of ethanol and volatile fatty acids by gas chromatography by direct treatment of cultivation broth is described. The measurements were made on a gas chromatograph Chrom 41.The packing material was Hallcomid M-18 with 1% H3PO4. on Chromosorb W AW. With the experimental conditions found in this study the method described gave reproducible and accurate results for the analytical control of cell cultivation.(In Czech, English summary only)
