Kvasny Prum. 1980; 26(11): 242-245 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1980039
It can be generally said that the level of mechanization the majority of racking sheds is not up-to-date. The article deals with recently developed equipment for automatic handling both modern cylindric casks and traditional barrel-shaped ones. Casks can be stored either on pallets in high stacks on free floor, or on racks erected in sheds. The best solution offer duly equipped special storage rooms built entirely for casks.(In Czech, English summary only)

After theoretical calculations, laboratory experiments and evaluation of results achieved in a pilot plant a new method has been elaborated for refining synthetic ethyl alcohol and its advantages confirmed by applying it on an industrial scale. By extractive refining distillation of raw synthetic ethyl alcohol refined alcohol can be produced which, owing to its properties, not only meets in every respect the requirements of fermenting processes, but can be used as well for many other purposes, especially in processes, where the purity of product is essential. The article deals also with the optimum design of the column for extractive distillation giving...
Bioengineering characteristics of sulphite liquors. III. Efficiency of antifoams suitable for biomass production.Peer-reviewed article

Kvasny Prum. 1980; 26(11): 254-256 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1980041
Several selected types of antifoams were tested with respect to their possible application in the microbial biomass production from natrium- and calcium-bisulphite liquors. Experiments were carried out with the following antifoams: Slovanik T610, Struktol J633, Kontramin 210 and MO 1. The effect of antifoams was appreciated from a comparison of their ability to suppress foam formation, antifoam consumption and changes in volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient. The results demonstrated that the most effective antifoam was Kontramin 210 for both types of bisulphite liquors used.(In Czech, English summary only)
Technologic evaluation of the Zweigeltrebe vine variety.Peer-reviewed article
V. ©VEJCAR
Kvasny Prum. 1980; 26(11): 257-258 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1980042
The author evaluates physical and chemical properties of grapes of the Zweigeltrebe vine variety. Samples taken in1979 insix different South Moravian districts have been analyzed and their results confirm high quality of grapes. The variety can be recommended for growing inCzechoslovakiaas an addition to already established dark-skinned sorts. Wine produced from grapes is outstanding for its high extraction residue this being one of the typical properties of quality wine.(In Czech, English summary only)
