The sensorial analysis performed by the special trained commission gives the correct description of beer taste. However, the customer's reaction to this beer can be different. Since the customer's requirements are of the main importance for a beer sale, it is necessary to determine the beer characteristic according to the customer's response. After that the commission has to compare the real and requested characteristics of each beer tested. Each beer that has good sale can be considered for that of the good quality. Therefore, the sensorial quality of beers with different characteristics cannot be correctly compared. The beer prosperity can be made...
Determination of caffeine, quinine, sorbic acid and benzoic acid in non-alcoholic beverages and wines using HPLC.Peer-reviewed article

Kvasny Prum. 1988; 34(11): 325-327 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1988045
A method for a simultaneous determination of quinine, caffeine, sorbic acid and benzoic acid in non-alcoholic beverages is described. The determination is performed isocratically on reverse phases (SiC18). The duration of the analysis is 10 min. The optimum wave length is 230 nm (photodiode detector resp.) for the detection. However, the detection is still satisfactory accurate at the wave length of 254 nm that is suitable for simple detectors. It was verified that the method gives the identical results with columns of various proveniences. The degassed analyzed samples can be injected into the column without any pretreatment. The detection...
An application of auxotrophic-regulatory mutants of Corynebacterium glutamicum foe a preparation of lysine by fermentation.Peer-reviewed article

Kvasny Prum. 1988; 34(11): 328-329 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1988046
There has been isolated then mutant Corynebacterium glutamicum 9366-AEC/100/Leu-6, resistant to S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine and dependent to homoserine and leucine, producing 47,0; 21,5 and 50,8 g/l lysine in media containing sucrose, ethanol or acetic acid as carbon sources.(In Czech, English summary only)

O. VOLFOVÁ, M. KMENTOVÁ, E. KYSLÍKOVÁ
Kvasny Prum. 1988; 34(11): 330-331 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1988047
Acidotolerant strain C. boidinii 2 was obtained from the parental strain n. 11Bh by selection pressures of formate and low ph of medium. Strain is growing in methanol-limited chemostat with maximum yield coefficient 40 % and content of rough proteins 60-65 % in a wide area of pH 2,8-4,2. The biomass is rich in vitamins of B group, mainly in B2 (39,8 mg/100 g) and B1 (18,3 mg/100 g). The proteins are rich in essential aminoacids lysine (6,3 %), leucine (6,2 %), threonine (4,7 %), fenylalanine (4,9 %) a tyrosine(3,9 %).(In Czech, English summary only)

The article briefly discusses organization of international activity with the aim to create information systems on microorganisms, especially in the form of databases and databanks. Attention is focused on formation and main purpose of international projects in this field, with the brief descriptioned of MSDN, MICIS, MINE and COMPASS. Also is mentioned importance of international cooperation in the framework of similar project within COMECON countries.(In Czech, English summary only)
