Calculations of beer analysis in a brewing laboratory with their following storage in the databasis using a personal computer is described in the article.(In Czech, English summary only)

Improvement of wine-making yeasts. III. Techniques used.Peer-reviewed article

S. MICHALČÁKOVÁ, E. ŠTURDÍK

Kvasny Prum. 1990; 36(7): 196-199 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1990025

The methods for yeast improvements (selection, induced mutagenesis, hybridization, protoplast fusion, technique of recombinant DNA) and their applications for an obtaining of new strains suitable in a wine-making are outlined in the article. The selection techniques permitting to obtain strains resistent to copper and ethanol and the mutation procedures and the protoplast fusions resulting in a preparation of respiratory deficient mutants and the killers of wine-making yeasts are discussed in details.(In Slovak, English summary only)

Morphological changes of Torulopsis ethanolitolerans during continuous culture.Peer-reviewed article

J. RYBÁŘOVÁ, J. ŘEŽÁBKOVÁ

Kvasny Prum. 1990; 36(7): 199-202 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1990026

The morphological changes of the yeast population Torulopsis ethanolitolerans that were observed during a continuous culture result from changes in oxygen concentrations in the medium. The highest changes were observed under conditions of oxygen limitation. .These changes manifest their self in the cell elongation and the lowering of the cell volume. Eliminating the oxygen limitation the yeast cells obtain their typical form and size in batch cultures. The plot between the morphological changes and the content of nitrogen compounds in the cell biomass was proved.(In Czech, English summary only)

Fermentation production of ethanol from starch raw-materials. I. Literature review.Peer-reviewed article

Z. CIESAROVÁ, D. ŠMOGROVIČOVÁ, Ľ POLÍVKA

Kvasny Prum. 1990; 36(7): 202-205 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1990027

A present state of starch containing raw-materials used for the ethanol production by yeasts is reviewed. The different procedures of the pretreatment of raw-materials with respect to the intensification of ethanol production on an industrial scale are compared.(In Slovak, English summary only)
