A procedure for a preparation of cell walls and β-glucane from the sedimentation fraction of yeast autolysates was developed. This preparate stimulated the fermentation of grape must both on a laboratory scale as well as on a production scale. With respect to a high invertase activity this preparate was used for a construction of enzyme electrode for the saccharose determination. Isolated native and modified preparates of β-glucane were tested on experimental animals with respect to their immunochemical effect. Also these results were positive.(In Slovak, English summary only)

Fermentation production of lactic acid. II. Isolation of thermophilic strain.Peer-reviewed article

V. HERIBAN, N. ©TURDÍKOVÁ, E. ©TURDÍK

Kvasny Prum. 1992; 38(8): 231-235 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1992022

Using classical microbial techniques thirty monocultures were isolaled from samples taken from the sugar production. This screening was made with the aim to obtain the thermophilic microorganisms growing on saccharose and being able to convert sugar to lactic acid. All the strains were tested from the standpoint of basic microbiological and biochemical properties. The strains with the best properties were identified as Bacillus coagulans. In addition, the preservation techniques for these strains were developed.(In Slovak, English summary only)

This study was focused on reasons resulting in the explosion in a storage tank with neutral sulphite cellulose in South Slovakia Cellulose and Paper Plant in ©túrovo. With respect to the technology used microbial processes continuously proceeds in the storage tank. It was found that cellulose as well as dilution water are contaminated with microorganisms. Anaerobic bacteria produce explosion gases such as hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide. As a reason of the explosion was the ignition of  H2 and H2S mixed with air due to a spark resulting from the electrostatic energy. Hydrogen is formed during every conditions. However, when...
