The estimation of beer vigour, the level of carbon dioxide by three methods, temperature, bittemess and sensorically also temperature, bitterness and staleness were performed with a collection of 43 Czech-made beers. The statistically determined linear correlations among the individual parameters were proved. Nevertheless, the plot between the beer vigour and the other factors could be described with the term including not only the factors proper but some interactions among them and some square terms, as well. Therefore, the beer vigour is dependent on a temperature, level of carbon dioxide and less significantly on a level of bitter substances and...

The disposal of solid filtration residues such as spent kieselguhr and filter sheets is getting more and more difficult and expensive. Schenk Filterbau has developed a procedure for the fine or sterile filtration by use of regenerable filter materials in the PRIMUS-filter. This new filtration process can be fully automated and replaces the conventional methods for the fine or sterile filtration. The regeneration of the filter materials is done by flushing with hot water, caustic and acid. The process requires a filter material, which is fully regenerable, chemical resistant and free of kieselguhr. The filtration effect should be adjustable to a coarser...
