Extraction methods used for volatile substances isolation from beer are described and compared. Extractions into N-pentan and dichlormethan mixture in ratio 2:1 with varying extraction time (eg. 24 hrs, 16 hrs, 8hrs and 2 hrs performed in a continual extraction apparatus) as well as distillate batch extraction into dichlormethan were verified. A 12% beer was used as a sample. The highest concentration of higher alcohols was measured during 24 hrs extraction time; the highest estere and fatty acids level was being found during 16 hrs extraction time. The ratio of higher alcohols and esters attained the highest level (3.02) during 24 hrs extraction,...

Results of contents monitoring are summarized following from the presence of 16 elements contained in 16 mineral waters from the Czech and Slovak Republics. Contents of toxic elements (eg. Hg, Cd, Pb, Ni) were found in all cases under detection level, by nearly half of the samples (western and northern part of the Czech Republic) values be were monitored exceeding 0,005 mh/l. the contents of other monitored elements (eg. Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn) were mostly found in a very broad spectrum. Measured values were compared with those declared on labels in some cases significantly considerable positive and negative differences were monitored....

On the basis of data monitoring from the years 1873 - 1950, concerning the age of 1037 czech brewers at the time of their death, the influence of beer consummation with respect to their health condition is being assessed. In despite of comparable data shortage can be from the reality deducted that from the total of monitored group, 10 % of brewers died after achieving 80 years of their age from which follows that beer consummation is not linked with significants risks of health condition impairing and from this resulting earlier death.(In Czech, English summary only)
