Solid phase extraction (SPE) and solid phase microextraction (SPME) are typical examples of modern sample preparation methods used more and more for the determination of flavour compounds in beer. The range of different sorbents for SPE and SPME fibers scales up. So the comparison of 11 SPE columns were investigated partly from the position of the same type of sorbents made by different producers and partly from different sort of sorbents. Furthermore the 3 type of SMPE fibers were compared. SPE sorbents and SPME fibers were tested by the extraction of fatty acids as an example.Working parameters of SPE and SPME methods were described in this study....

In this work, the quality of malts from eight growing regions of the Czech Republic and five spring barley varieties of the year 2005 was monitored. Correlation coefficients were used for the statistical evaluation of the relation between the qualitative parameters of malt and beer quality. Among the interesting correlations found belongs for example the lipoxygenase activity and the dimethylsulphide precursor content in malt or the correlation between the amino nitrogen content and beer colour. There was found a difference in the degree of modification of malts between the South Moravian and the West Bohemian regions. This difference proved also in...

During the 2nd half of the 20th century, several exceptional personalities contributed significantly to general understanding of unsustainable exploitation and disruption of nature ecosystems by human activities. Important studies by A. Leopold and R. Carson illustrate this development. Special attention is paid to the report "Our Common Future" prepared by the Brundtland´s Committee.(In Czech, English summary only)
