The so called neutron method of measuring moisture content in organic matters is based upon the phenomenon of the deceleration of neutrons through their interaction with mass. The method is well proven as far as loose or pulverized substances are concerned. Experiments carried out with malt indicate, that the method has certain advantages and - if duly modified - could be applied at breweries for measuring the moisture content of malt in drying kilns.
