Effects of polluting foreign matters present in synthetic ethanol upon its assimilation by Candida utility yeast.Peer-reviewed article

Crude synthetic ethanol contains some foreign matters which are harmful in applications, where ethanol is to be used as a source of carbon necessary for the growth of microorganisms. The authors have studied in the first line effects of contaminants which are frequently present in high concentrations. Though the results of fermentation tests fully confirm negative effects contaminants have upon the yields of yeast mass, it is extremely improbable that the concentration may be as high as to retard fermentation process or in an extreme case to stop it. This holds true both to batch and continuous cultivation in crude synthetic ethanol without returning separated medium into the process.
