Organization of plant breeding in the Czech Republic after the year 1948.Not peer-reviewed article

In 1948 plant breeding and seed growing companies in the CSR were nationalized. Changes in organization of plant breeding and seed growing marked the whole period of 1948-1989. The article deals with this topic briefly, especially in relation to spring barley breeding. Specialization of breeding stations started after 1960. To fulfil breeding plans, teams of breeders specialized in particular crops and also teams of breeders within international cooperation in breeding wereestablished. The breeding plans were governed by long-term thematic tasks. The production economic unit Oseva Praha was a monopoly company for plant breeding and seed growing of field crops.In 1948 plant breeding and seed growing companies in the CSR were nationalized.
