The suitability of 25 Czechoslovak sugar-beet molasses of the season 1963 for the citric acid fermentation, employing the industrial strain AspergillusnigerK 10 as the testing organism, has been followed up. The maximum yield of citric acid - 84,41 per cent, was gained when molasses from the sugar-beet factory Brodek was fermented. A little lower yields were obtained by fermenting molasses of other the sugar-beet factories. The lowest yield (42,96 %) was given by molasses from the faktory at Předměřice. According to the kontent of sucrose, total nitrogen, the nitrogen of alpha-amino acids, betaine, ash, volatile acids, the buffer-index and pH values no tzpical diference between the productive and unproductive kinds of molasses has been stated. The average Šeld of citric acid, hen the examined molasses were processed, was higher than hen molasses from the same sugar factories of the season 1962 were fermented.
