Effect of herbicide on the yeast flora of fermenting musts.Peer-reviewed article

E. MINÁRIK, P. RÁGALA

Long term experiments on the by herbicides applied for weed control in vineyards on the yeast flora of grapes and of spontaneously fermenting must showed, that the majority of herbicides have no or only very slight inhibiting effects on the development on the yeast flora, no matter, whether herbicides are used only occasionally or systematically. Herbicides on the basis of urea, triazine and mixed triazine herbicides behave neutral. From the group of chloro-thiamide herbicides only "PREFIX " - if not buried into the soil - showed inhibiting effects on sporeforming yeast species. Herbicides based on dichlobenil display slight suppressing effects on spore-forming yeasts.
