A. DOLEŽALOVÁ, M. NENTWICHOVÁ

For a purity determination of the Czechoslovak variety of spring barleys and those of new improved, both morphological signs and electrophoresis of the hordein component of barley were used. The methods according to Günzel-Fischbeck and Schildbach were tested. The G-F method is more simply for a final evaluation of electrophoreograms. The Schildbach's method permits a determination of the varieties that are genetically similar. For this determination of the varieties that are genetically similar. For this determination two gels with a different pH value have to be used. Using the electrophoresis of the hordein component the variety and purity of the new strains can be determined. This determination is very important to keep constant the properties of the variety. The treatment of the same varieties of barley permits to achieve better quality of malt. A use of the only one variety or genetically similar varieties of barley has also a positive effect on the beer quality.
