For a purity determination of the Czechoslovak variety of spring barleys and those of new improved, both morphological signs and electrophoresis of the hordein component of barley were used. The methods according to Günzel-Fischbeck and Schildbach were tested. The G-F method is more simply for a final evaluation of electrophoreograms. The Schildbach's method permits a determination of the varieties that are genetically similar. For this determination of the varieties that are genetically similar. For this determination two gels with a different pH value have to be used. Using the electrophoresis of the hordein component the variety and purity of the...

Metal cations in wine.Peer-reviewed article

V. KELLNER, P. ČEJKA, F. FRANTÍK, K. PRŮŠA

Kvasny Prum. 1985; 31(3): 54-57 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1985009

A determination of K, Na, Mg, Ca, Fe, Cu, Al, As, Cd, Cr, Li, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr and Zn in wine samples of Czechoslovak production was carried out. The results were carried out. The results compared with those previously published in Czechoslovakiaand abroad. Except Ni, the concentrations of all others cations were in the limit permitted for the wine. In the majority of samples the results obtained were comparable with those published in the literature. The mean values for the individual metals were: Al - 1,56; As - below 0,001; Ca - 135,2; Cd - 0,003; Cr - 0,015; Cu - 0,11; Fe - 6,25; K - 1,057; Li - 0,010; Mg - 98,1; Mn - 0,78; Na - 21,4 (4 samples);...

Proof and determination of anthocyans in color beverages.Peer-reviewed article

Z. ZLOCH

Kvasny Prum. 1985; 31(3): 58-60 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1985010

A determination of anthocyanidins and anthocyanins in addition to other natural and synthetic dyestuffs in fruit and vegetable beverages is described. The first step of the determination comprises an extraction of dyestuffs using a suitable sorbens, e.g. polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyamide or Dowex resin. Second step is the separation of anthocyans by the TLC or column chromatography using microcrystallinic cellulose, silica gel, polyvinylpyrrolidone and Spheron S 1000. Isolated anthocyans are verified by selective chemical reactions. The quantity determination of anthocyans after their chromatographic separation is made by the colorimetry. Empirical formulae...

Ergot oil - a new substrate for fermentation industry.Peer-reviewed article

P. ETTLER, V. VLČEK, J. LINDOVSKÝ, P. HARAZIM

Kvasny Prum. 1985; 31(3): 61-62 | DOI: 10.18832/kp1985011

During the cultivation of Claviceps sp. besides ergot alkaloids a large amount of ergot oil is formed. A separate isolation process for purification of rafinated oil was developed. This substrate was successfully used for some biosynthetic processes as antifoam agent partial carbon source. Phys. chem. properties of ergot oil are presented.(In Czech, English summary only)
