Nowadays the significance of fermenting spring utilization is increasing is non-food branches, particularly as admixtures into propellants. For the assessment of advantage such an application is necessary to compare energy demands of spirit production with energy developed by its combustion in an ignition engine. During tests carried out with the utilization so called cold non-pressure procedure in school alcohol distillery in Hohenheim (BRD) research workers succeeded in achieving the consumption 7,58MJ per 1 liter ethanol. The result value achieved 35 % of the heat of combustion of 1 liter ethanol. This balance is in discrepancy with a line of published information, which consider such an utilization of fermenting spirit as disadvantageous from the viewpoint of energy of report at least higher values of energy consumption than those obtained during tests described by author.
